Old Acquaintance Rescue (OAR Cats) founded in 2026 is a foster-based cat rescue dedicated to protecting and uplifting the most vulnerable feline populations across New England and the East Coast.

 

Inspired by our guiding tagline, “For Auld Lang Syne”—a tribute to the enduring value of old friendships and those too often forgotten—we are committed to giving every cat the chance to be remembered, cherished, and loved.

Our work centers on those often overlooked—cats at risk of euthanasia, those with complex medical conditions or in hospice care, and cats with behavioral challenges who need time, patience, and understanding to thrive.

 

At OAR Cats, we believe every cat deserves dignity, safety, and a chance to experience love. We partner with shelters, veterinarians, and community members to identify at-risk cats and bring them into our care.

 

Because we are entirely foster-based, each cat is placed in a home environment where we can truly understand their needs, personalities, and potential. This approach allows us to provide individualized care plans, whether that means advanced medical treatment, behavioral rehabilitation, or simply a calm, supportive space to decompress and heal until each cat is ready to meet their forever family.
